Payroll outsourcing companies now abound. It is a business yes, but how is it going to help your business? That is a fundamental question that any employer will consider before going the whole hog and signing up for payroll services. You have been paying your staff wages – you have already done so for quite some time – then why worry? Why needs a hand? Well, it is the legislative compliance that is the tipping stone because that is what catches most employers napping.

For instance, during NMW compliance investigation, it was found that business X was employee volunteers from some European countries at less than the minimum wage because:

(a) the volunteers had agreed to the lower wage rate and were happy

No Employment Tribunal looks kindly on an employer who hasn’t got an Employment Contract in writing and yet you will find scores of employers missing this extremely fundamental aspect. The result is simple. Even if the case is in the employer’s favour, they are going to be penalised for lack of employment contract – that’s obvious.
